Guidelines for AI use
Any material containing AI-generated content must adhere to all KU standards, guidelines, and policies as well as applicable regulations and laws. The person(s) creating or distributing content is responsible for ensuring that final deliverables meet these standards and are accurate and high quality. Please review guidance for acceptable AI use on the KU Communicators artificial intelligence webpage.
Guidelines include:
- All materials must be reviewed by a human prior to publication or distribution.
- Photorealistic images entirely or primarily created by AI are not permitted for use.
- Never create or alter content in ways that misrepresent what actually happened.
- Never use AI to imitate a real person’s likeness or identity.
- Do not create AI-generated images of trademarked or copyrighted logos, icons, or other images, including official KU marks and logos such as the Jayhawk. Doing so violates intellectual property laws, as well as KU’s Trademark Policy and Branding Policy.
